Since 1977, the New England Montessori Teacher Education Center (NEMTEC) has offered a Montessori early childhood teacher preparation course which leads to Montessori certification under the auspices of the American Montessori Society.

The degree earned, "American Montessori Society Early Childhood Credential, qualifies the graduate to teach children of preschool and kindergarten age (2 1/2 through 6) in a Montessori setting anywhere in the world.

The New England Montessori Teacher Education Center is also fully accredited by MACTE, the Montessori Accreditation Commission for Teacher Education.

There has been tremendous growth of the Montessori movement in recent years in both private and public education, which has led to an unprecedented demand for certified Montessori teachers. New England Montessori Teacher Education Center has an excellent reputation and graduates are sought for teaching positions all over the world.

NEMTEC actively assists graduates with free career placement by informing them of available positions and working with schools to supply qualified teachers. Staff members are also available on a consultant basis for assisting graduates who start their own Montessori school.
